Weekly Message for the Week of 12-2-24
Good evening, Green Devil Families!
Here is your December 2nd weekly update for school events and information:
*I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving Break! We look forward to welcoming our students back on campus tomorrow.
*Please save the date for our newly announced GRADUATION ceremony for the Class of 2025, Thursday, May 29th= 7:30PM at the BayCare Sound in Clearwater. This is a new venue for us so, please stay tuned for more information.
*PCS is offering a FALL Challenge for all students enrolled in Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, US History and Reading to help support student academic success. Students will be able to access these challenges through CLEVER. Challenges open on November 18th and run through December 6th.
*We will be administering the ELA-PM2 (English Language Arts- Progress Monitoring) FAST testing to all 9th and 10th grade students on Monday, December 9th. Students will need their district issued laptops for testing so please help us to remind students to not only bring those to school but, to make sure they are fully charged.
PLEASE remind your child that:
- They should take their time when completing this test. They can take the entire school day if needed.
- The test is adaptive, which means it changes as students answer questions. Students should NOT skip any questions as the test will perceive that is them not knowing the answer and it will negatively affect their score.
- When students are answering the questions correctly the test will becoming more challenging. This means they are doing well!
- Students should do their absolute best to answer each and every question. They should NOT guess but, use a process of elimination to narrow down the options and select the best choice.
- The way they do on this test will affect where they start off on the PM2 (Progress Monitoring 2) test so it is very important that they do the best they can on every progress monitoring test given.
*Senior families, please make sure you are part of a remind group if I you are not already receiving the information updates via text. You can also check out the senior class webpage via the SPHS Website at https://www.pcsb.org/domain/5079 . If you haven’t paid your Senior Dues, you can do so on that webpage as well.
*Our campus is open from 6:30AM-2:30PM each day. No student should be dropped off before 6:30AM and all students (unless they are in a school sponsored event and with an adult sponsor) should be OFF campus no later than 2:30PM.
Our office hours are 7:00AM to 3:00PM. If you need to sign your child out early from school, please make sure to do so prior to 1:30 PM. NO PTLs will be permitted after 1:30, students cannot be released during the last 25 minutes of the day.
