Programs Offered
The Center for Gifted Studies
Elisa Nelson Elementary offers north-county gifted students in grades 1-5 an opportunity for full-time gifted services. Students will learn from gifted endorsed teachers, collaborate with gifted classmates and experience advanced curriculum across all content areas. Advanced, integrated gifted curriculum will be used daily with the Florida Gifted Frameworks as the foundation to provide daily gifted services. Special focus is placed on critical and creative thinking as well as social-emotional development.
The Center for Literacy Innovation
At Elisa Nelson Elementary School, provides a systematic, multisensory, structured approach to literacy instruction. Students will have opportunities for remediation in reading, writing and math. In addition to district curriculum & resources, the Center for Literacy Innovation teachers are highly trained experts in delivering customized reading interventions using a research-based program and strategies in whole group, small group, and one-one settings. Student achievement is closely monitored and instructional strategies are adapted regularly to suit the on-going growth in reading and writing. Teachers construct a supportive and nurturing classroom environement that fosters a growth mindset and empowers learners to take charge of their own learning.

Dress Code
The dress code policy adopted by the learning community at our school is designed to enhance student learning in a caring and nurturing environment. Our dress code policy promotes solidarity and school pride among our students attending the Center for Gifted Studies and the Center for Literacy Innovation. Transportation
Transportation Information: Transportation is available to students who live in the North County Application Area.
The North County Application Area includes students who live in area are zoned for the following middle schools: Dunedin Highland, Joseph Carwise, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Tarpon Springs. Parent & Community Involvement

The School Advisory Council (SAC) members work collaboratively to:
- Analyze relevant data to determine school improvement priorities.
- Assist in the development, implementation, support, and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
- Contribute in the decision-making process and approval of expenditures with the annual school budget, School Recognition Funds, and funds specifically designated for SAC to support SIP initiatives.
