    Curriculum:

Our visual arts curriculum provides a comprehensive, standards-based program to scholars in grades K-5. Each year, we build our knowledge and skills related to drawing, painting, mixed media, fiber arts, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and digital medias. Our units of study focus on the elements and principles of art, as well as art history, art criticism and innovation.

    Technology in the Art Room:

Here at Pinellas Central, we have a permanent iPad Art Lab. All classes K-5 utilize the lab throughout the year. The iPads provide us with the ability to create innovative digital media works of art, and enhances our traditional media units of study. The iPad Art Lab is provided for by the Pinellas County Visual Arts Referendum Funds.

Pinellas Central artists showcase their artwork at multiple exhibitions throughout Pinellas County. Below is a list of some of the shows we participate in:

    Art Field Trips:

Our school visits multiple art museums and galleries at no cost to parents and families thanks to the Pinellas County Referendum. These field trips are standards-based. They provide an amazing opportunity for our scholars to engage in rigorous discussions related to famous works of art. Here is a list of some of the art museums and galleries we visit:

    School-Wide Collaborative Art Projects:

Teamwork makes the dream work … especially in the art room. Whether it’s a grade level collaborative sculpture or a whole school art instillation, working together as a community is vital to our success as artists.

    Kids Tag Art:

Kids Tag Art Pinellas is a Florida Standards-aligned curriculum where Pinellas County 5th graders design their own unique vanity tags (front license plates) during art class. The 2018/2019 school year features nearly 2,000 designs that can be viewed and purchased at kidstagartpinellas.org.
