Weekend Update 10/1/23
Good Evening Thunderbird Families,
I hope you had a great weekend! Believe it or not, there are only two weeks left in the first grading period. Now would be a great time to connect with your student about their grades. Before and after school tutoring is up and running, please contact the appropriate grade level counselor if your student needs academic assistance.
Cheerleading and Basketball tryouts are coming up in the next few weeks. Please visit the school website for specific date information. Students need a physical, school insurance, and a participation form to tryout.
Our last home volleyball game will be tomorrow at 4:30pm. Our Thunderbird Cross Country team will have their next meet at 5:00pm, Tuesday, October 3rd at Crescent Lake Park. Come cheer on our Thunderbird athletes.

Weekend Update 9/24/23
Good Evening Thunderbird Families,
Just a reminder there is no school for students tomorrow, September 25th. We are looking forward to seeing everyone Tuesday morning on time and in dress code. Remember hoodies are not permitted.
Our next home volleyball game is Wednesday, September 27th afterschool. Come out and cheer on our Thunderbird athletes.

We are asking parents, students, and community members to complete our PPMS Library Media Survey. This survey is to help gain feedback on what types of books, authors, or resources stakeholders would like to see in our media center. Student Lunch Survey:
The Food and Nutrition Department is surveying students regarding the current lunch options. The survey will close on Oct. 9, 2023. The PTSA is hosting a Spirit Night at Skyzone on Thursday, September 21st. Please mention PPMS PTA for a portion of the proceeds to come back to Pinellas Park Middle School and the PTSA.

Weekend Update 9/10/23
Good Evening Thunderbird Families,
We’ve had a busy week at PPMS with FAST PM 1 testing, our first home volleyball games, and our first ever cross-country meet. I am so proud of our students for exhibiting our SOAR expectations both in and out of the classroom. Please remember the importance of arriving at school on time and in dress code.
Our next cross-country meet is taking place on Thursday, September 14th at Taylor Park in Largo at 5pm. Come out and support our student athletes.
Vernon Photography will be taking school pictures on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Every student will be photographed. All students should be in PPMS dress code on picture day. To prepay online please go to: www.VernonPhoto.com/FallPrepay (You do not need to send anything with your child on picture day if you prepay). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Vernon Photography directly at: Support@VernonPhoto.com. Students will be receiving a flyer to bring home this week.
The PTSA is hosting a spirit night at Skyzone on Thursday, September 21st from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Skyzone will be donating a percentage of ticket sales that mention PPMS to the PTSA. Come out and support our PTSA and Pinellas Park Middle.

Weekend Update 9/3/23
Good Evening Thunderbird Families,
I hope all of you and your families made it through the storm with minimal damage.
Just a reminder that we have no school tomorrow, September 4th, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
We will continue to have FAST PM 1 testing on Tuesday, so please make sure your student has a good night’s sleep and breakfast.
Our Thunderbird sports are kicking off this week with home volleyball games on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 4:45pm. Our first cross country meet will be on September 7th at 5:00pm at Boca Ciega High School. Come out and support our Thunderbird teams!
We have started our morning tutoring at 7:45am Monday-Friday. If your student needs academic assistance, drop them off at the front office at 7:45 Monday-Friday for tutoring.
Students will start in their new interest-based enrichment classes on Tuesday. All students will receive a new schedule with their updated enrichment class on Tuesday.
Sunday, September 24th is PCS Sprit Night with the Rays. Discounted tickets are available for the game and students will be receiving order forms on Tuesday. All money and orders are due no later than this Friday, September 8th. If your student is returning money and order forms, please have them bring it to the front office.

Weekend Update 8/27/23
Good Evening Thunderbird Families,
Thank you to all the families that attended the 7th and 8th grade Back to School Night. It was great seeing our students sharing their school day with their family.
We will continue to have FAST PM 1 testing this week, so please make sure your student has a good night’s sleep and breakfast.
If your student has a school computer and has not brought it back to school to be renewed, please make sure they bring it on Monday and see Ms. Conklin, in the media center, to help renew it.
After Labor Day, students will be changing their enrichment course to their interest activity they have chosen. If your student has not completed the interest survey, please have them do so in Clever by Tuesday, August 29th.

Weekend Update 8/20/23
Good Evening Thunderbird Families,
I just wanted to share a few important things happening on campus this week. On Thursday, August 24th we will be having Back to School Night for 7th and 8th students and families at 6:00pm. You will have the opportunity to follow your students schedule and meet their teachers. Prior to the back-to-school night, we will be having a PTSA General Meeting at 5:00pm and our Title 1 Annual Meeting at 5:30pm. Both meetings will be in the media center and all are welcome.
If you have not completed your students back to school forms online, please do so as soon as possible. We are starting to distribute student laptops this week and the electronic opt in form on Focus has to be completed in order for your student to receive a laptop.
Students will take their first round of FAST testing for ELA and Math starting August 25th-September 1st.
Looking ahead-School Picture Day will be on Wednesday, September 20th. More information to come soon!
