Curtis Fundamental is a Healthy School!

Through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, our school received bronze recognition (2009), silver recognition (2015), and gold recognition (2016)!  Awards are granted each year to schools that meet criteria in order to create a healthier environment for students, staff, and families.  As a result, we have been featured in USA TODAY as one of the top schools in the nation.

There are many ways you can help us maintain gold throughout the school year and many things we as a staff are doing on campus to maintain this type of environment.  We want to send a consistent message about good nutrition and healthy eating, so it is important that our celebrations and snacks reflect the healthy changes being made throughout our school building.  We are asking that if your child brings a snack to class, to please consider healthy snacks only.  We are also asking that our school celebrates without using food, like doing a fun physical activity or project or if food is included, healthy food only.

Our school has also been recognized by the American Heart Association, City of Dunedin and Let’s Move Active Schools for being a healthy school.

     Welcome to P.E.!

Our goal is to help find a variety of ways for your child to enjoy being physically active so that he or she will be able to get all of the physical, emotional, and social benefits that come to people that are physically active.

Your child will have P.E. 3 days a week for 50 minutes each day.  They are permitted and it is highly recommended that they bring a water bottle to P.E.  Please label bottles with your child’s name.  Hats can also be worn but only outside during P.E. class.

We have many wonderful events that will happen throughout the school year.  Please look for our monthly newsletter to keep you updated and informed about what is happening in P.E.

We take pride in our program and love what we do!  We are proud that our P.E. Program received the 2016 Program Recognition Award at the annual Florida SHAPE conference in 2016!
