Hello! —My name is Sylvia Cairns and I have been a teacher in Pinellas County since 2008.  I have taught in Orange, Hillsborough, and Pinellas County schools, and come to you with a Doctor of Education and Master of Education from the University of South Florida, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Central Florida.  I reside in Palm Harbor with my husband, and our child is currently a graduate student studying in Florida. 

As an educator with a solid commitment to the academic and social growth of each child, I seek to actively engage students in the development of their personal intellect and their ability to think critically, thereby translating new knowledge into practical skills and behaviors.  I promote a positive learning environment, focusing on the individual needs of my students. It’s going to be an educationally exciting year, and I look forward to meeting everyone soon!
