• Good Evening Highlanders, this is Mr. Vasallo Principal at DHMS.

First off, I would like to give a few updates about our car line.  A reminder to parents and students that we do not allow any pickup on the side road along the North side of the campus.  Please only pickup along the sidewalks.  Also, I need to ask parents who park in the parking lot for pickup and/or drop off to please get out of your vehicle and come to the cross walk to drop off or pick your child up.  We ask that you come to the cross walk, as we do not have staff to insure a safe crossing of the parking lot for our students.  Thank you for your support.

We want our 8th grade parents to know that shadowing for high school programs has begun.  You will need to reach out to the individual schools for information, but we have begun to compile the information we receive on our High School Options page - https://www.pcsb.org/Page/17901 - under the Resources tab on our website.  We have also included the Magnet Fair and Discovery Night dates for all programs.  As an additional note, if you know families interested in shadowing our Center for Gifted Studies, we have published a link on our website to allow them to sign up for shadowing dates: https://www.pcsb.org/Page/25751#calendar49331/20180925/month

The PCS TIPS program allows middle school students to take the SAT test in 7th grade.  The deadline for students to register is October 19th. If would like information on the program, you can look for the PCS TIPS page under the Resources Tab on our website: https://www.pcsb.org/domain/9221.  If you have questions, you may contact our PCS TIPS coordinator, Ms. Northcutt at northcuttc@pcsb.org

I want to let everyone know our next home Volleyball game is this Thursday at 4:45 PM vs. Carwise.

Students who are interested in picture retakes need to return their pictures on October 18th, our picture retake day. Students who missed the first round of school pictures need to stop by the main office this week to pickup a picture order form.

DHMS is a Box Tops for Education School this year. Tell your family & friends to help you collect Box Tops to support our school. Students can turn in Box Tops on Fridays during lunch and receive KILTS! You can go online and learn more: https://www.boxtops4education.com . Our next submission date is 10/31!

And finally, with the Halloween season approaching, we want to minimize any distractions to the learning environment.  I want to let our families know that we will not be allowing our students to wear costumes for Halloween.  Please continue to adhere to the PCSB Dress Code.  Also please make sure your students leave their candy at home.

That’s all for this week at Dunedin Highland Middle School, where we conduct ourselves with Respect, Excellence, and Pride!  Go Highlanders!
