• Good Evening Highlanders!

This is Mr. Vasallo Principal at DHMS with my weekly update,

I hope you can take a few moments to complete our annual climate survey.  We value your feedback and will be using the survey feedback to inform our planning for the 2020-2021 school year.  Our target is to have 210 responses from our parents.  Right now we only have 130.  We have placed a link on the front page of our website.  Please take a few minutes to respond to the survey at this link:

    https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/122707/36793

Once you have completed the survey, print the final page, that reads “Thank you for taking the survey” and your student can redeem that page on Wednesday for popcorn during lunch.

Report Cards were passed out in 7th period classes today.  Please talk to your student and ask them for their report card.  We recognize our students who earned Honor Roll and Principal’s List with a Plaid Pass that they can exchange for a cookie tomorrow in lunch.   Students who have failed the first semester of a course must enroll on our ELP credit recovery to remain eligible to be promoted at the end of the school year.

Guidance Counselors will begin the process of meeting with our current 6th and 7th grade students this week to review course selection for the 2020-2021 school year.  Please look for course request forms to come home this week and make sure to sign and return your child’s course request form when you receive it.

DHMS is in need of mentors!  If you are interested in mentoring or volunteering, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Regina Lawrence at lawrencer@pcsb.org or ext. 2045.

Please remember that all students who arrive prior to 8:50 am must be in an ELP session. We want to make sure all of our students are safe and learning in the morning.

In Sports, the Girls Basketball Team will have their next Home Game next Monday.

We are pleased to announce our Valentine’s Day Dance on Friday, February 7th from 6-8pm in Highlander Hall. Tickets are $10 and will be used to support our Interact Club and their service projects.  In order to be eligible to buy a ticket, students must not have any referrals between January 21st and the day of the dance, and no major referrals all year.

8th Grade Parents, we still have openings for our 8th Grade Gradventure Trip.  Contact Dr. Bergstrom at bergstromt@pcsb.org or Mrs. Makryllos at makrylloss@pcsb.org for more information.  The trip will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Parents can now make payments online for Gradventure by visiting the Online Payments link on the bottom right corner of our website.  Or click here: https://pcsb.revtrak.net/Middle-Schools/dunedin-highland-middle-/#/list

Yearbooks are on sale now for $25.  You can order one by visiting the Online Payments link on the bottom right corner of our website.  Or click here: https://pcsb.revtrak.net/Middle-Schools/dunedin-highland-middle-/#/list
