Good Evening Highlanders, this is Mr. Vasallo Principal at DHMS with my weekly update,
It's that time again for PTA Reflections! Each year hundreds of thousands of students in preschool through grade 12 create and submit original works in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual art. The theme this year is: “Look Within.” More information and the application can be found at: https://floridapta.org/reflections-art-program/
Boys and girls Volleyball is away today and has a home match on Wednesday.
The Interact Club will have their first meeting tomorrow at 4:15 in Mr. Rice’s room - 3-107. The Builder’s club will have its first meeting Wednesday at 4:15 in Ms. Coleman’s room - 2-128.

Our PTA Fundraiser items arrive this week! We will be delivering Fundraiser items to our students on Thursday, October 3rd. Starting at 3pm, we will call students out of class to pick up their items from the Cafeteria. PTA members will be in the Cafeteria until 5pm for parents to assist with large orders.
PTA is still conducting their membership drive. If you have not already joined, please send your $10 dues in an envelope with your child’s name in to the main office. When you sign up, your student will receive a popcorn ticket they can redeem on Wednesdays.
Looking ahead to some important dates, October 7th is World Day of Bullying Prevention. We encourage all students to wear blue to stomp out bullying.
Kona Ice will be back on campus at dismissal on October 10th.
October 11th, we will hold our Ready REPs breakfast for parents and students. We will share resources with parents to help keep students on track for high school.
Also on October 11th we will have picture retakes. In order to participate in retakes, students will need to return their original pictures.
Pinellas County Schools will host an ESOL Resource Fair on October 15th at SPC Clearwater at 6pm.
On October 16th all 8th grade students will take the PSAT test.
Also on October 16th, we will host our PTA meeting at 6:30pm. The October meeting will host high school magnet program coordinators. It is highly encouraged for all students to start thinking about their options for high school.
We are gearing up for the Great American Teach In in November. If you are interested in participating, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Mrs. Lawrence at email@example.com or ext. 2045.
Please remain patient with our car line in the afternoon. Please pull all the way forward to make space for as many cars as possible in the car line. Also please make sure you and your child use our crosswalks in the front parking lot. Parents who wish to park their car may pull into a parking space in our front parking lot and but if you choose this option, you must walk your student to and from the crosswalk to ensure a safe crossing. Parking spaces in the main parking lot are limited, so if there are no spaces, you must pull around and join the car line.
Does your child ride a bus? If so, then sign up for Bus Bulletin! This new system by the Pinellas County Schools Transportation Department enables you receive notifications when there are bus delays and schedule changes, at no cost to you. You can sign up now at: www.BusBulletin.com/parents .
If you would like to support your child’s learning at home, please review the Personalized Learning Pathway (PLP), which your child can access through the Clever App. To learn more, check out these videos:
