2025-2026 What is a Title I School?
- Title I is a federal program that gives extra funding to schools to help students succeed in reading, math, and other subjects.
- The funding is based on the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch, which shows the level of need in the school.
- The goal is to make sure all children get the same chance to learn, no matter their family’s income.
- The money is used for things like extra teachers, small group instruction, tutoring, and learning resources to support students.
- Parents are important partners, and Title I schools encourage family involvement through meetings, workshops, and activities.
Title I schools receive federal dollars to fund the following:
- Personnel to help students succeed. At North Shore for the 2025-2026 school year, we have a part time MTSS Coach funded by Title 1. This MTSS Coach support teachers and teams with data-driven problem solving and implementation of tiered interventions to address students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs and provides coaching, professional development, and progress monitoring to ensure fidelity of MTSS practices and improve student outcomes
- Academic workshops/family nights – Literacy night, STEM/Multicultural night, Middle School information night, and the Art and Student Showcase are offered to students and their families. We provide families the opportunity to learn strategies to help their children to be better readers, mathematicians, and scientists.
- Professional Development for staff members including a stipend to be paid to all staff who participate in school-based trainings after school. Staff participate in district-wide trainings and on-campus book studies.
- Promise Time program/ELP program – after school tutoring program. Materials and funds for salaries are provided for reading and math tutoring, drama and band club, spelling bee club, and coding.

Our school Title 1 Compact Plan is jointly developed by parents, teachers, and other stakeholders. This agreement lays out the plan between families, teacher and student for the year during a conference. In an effort to build the capacity of our parents, we will offer Parent Academies, Parent meetings and conferences, and School-wide Family Programs such as One School One Book. We also coordinate with other federal programs such as IDEA. During Open House/Title 1 Annual Meeting in August, you will receive: Parent’s Right to Know, What is Title I, and the importance of parent and family engagement, curriculum, and assessments.
We will communicate with parents via the agenda, emails, phone calls, various social media platforms, and our school's Principal Connections weekly email. We will make every reasonable effort to provide our parents with information in an understandable language and format. For more information, please contact Mr. Michael Rebman (rebmanm@pcsb.org).
