    The Safety Harbor Middle School chapter of NJHS considers scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship when choosing new members. Students selected to join the National Junior Honor Society at SHMS exhibit exemplary behavior and academic excellence. NJHS members complete service projects both as individuals and with their chapter, building character, citizenship, leadership, community involvement, and friendships along the way.

    National Junior Honor Society applications are available on the school website under the academics tab and accepted August 22nd - September 11th. Students in 8th grade who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above are eligible to apply. Students that are not sure if they are eligible can find out by checking with an 8th grade teacher, the 8th  grade office, or Ms. Dogu in room 3-216, or simply apply and we will check your GPA for you. Applications are due to Ms.Dogu by September 11th, 4:15 pm in room 3-216.

     

     
     

    GradPoint Course
     
    Safety Harbor Middle School now offers the GradPoint course to students who have previously failed the first semester of a fulltime course to a core subject (math, civics, science, language arts). GradPoint courses are offered before and after school (depending on your child’s and teacher’s schedule).  GradPoint is an easy-to-use and comprehensive online learning solution that helps students, who are in grades 6-12, develop the skills they need to succeed in middle school, high school, college, and beyond.  Safety Harbor Middle School also offers bus transportation for students attending GradPoint who do not live within walking distance or cannot be picked up by a parent or guardian.

    Extended Learning Program (ELP):

    Safety Harbor Middle School also offers the Extended Learning Program otherwise known as ELP. ELP is offered after school Monday through Thursday from 4:05-5:05pm. This program is designed to offer extra support for content area subjects (math, science, social studies, and language arts). All students can benefit from ELP assistance. If you are interested in ELP, please have your child speak with the respective grade level counselor. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call SHMS at (727)724-1400.
