My name is Del Brenn. I am the Library Information Specialist at Perkins Elementary School and it is an honor to help your children and our teachers.
I am originally from McWhorter, West Virginia where I graduated from South Harrison High School. I received a B.S. degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a double major in library science and education. I was the librarian at Adamston Grade School in Clarksburg for five years while I finished a master’s degree in education with emphasis in library science from West Virginia University.
I moved to St. Petersburg in 1983 and was librarian at Oakhurst and Shore Acres Elementary Schools until I came to Perkins in 1996. I also received a master’s degree in Library Science (emphasis in special libraries) from the University of South Florida while working here.
I am a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a women’s honorary education organization, a West Virginia 4-H All Star, and a member of the American Library Association and its sub-group the American Association of School Librarians. I am a member of the Florida Assoc. for Media in Education and the Pinellas Assoc. of Library Media Specialists.
I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and Words With Friends on the iPad. I love to travel to interesting places and meet interesting people. Macchu Picchu, Jenny Lake in Wyoming,Tulum, and Brugge, Belgium have been highlights. White-water rafting is a passion and favorite rivers have been the Gauley in West Virginia and the Gallatin in Montana. I tried out a “duckie” on the “Yough” in PA and it was a disaster. After falling in the water three times, I decided that I will go back to the rafts and at my age they will be guided rafts.
I have been married for fourteen years to Robin and we have a seven acre farm (part of a family farm) near where I grew up. As a little girl, I would swim in our pond and pick blackberries….nostalgic. I have two grandnieces and two grandnephews : Lyra, Jax, Caroline, and Grayson. I love my two cats, Lucy and Nellie.
