The goals of the CWE STEM Academy are to offer students the opportunity to conduct hands-on investigations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  Students  explore careers in STEM, learn about design and redesign, problem solving, collaboration and leadership skills.  This 26-week program uses curriculum from Junior Achievement to learn about being an entrepreneur and starting a business.  It also uses complex building kits to create devices (some are remote control!) and design tasks and challenges for those devices.  The STEM Academy culminates in an inquiry project that will be showcased at the Pinellas County STEM Expo on the campus of the University of South Florida - St. Petersburg in April.

There are 148 elementary and middle school STEM Academies in Pinellas County, serving nearly 3,000 students.  This year, CWE has expanded our STEM opportunities to serve 100 students, 20 in 4th Grade and 40 in 5th Grade, 20 in 3rd Grade and 20 in 2nd Grade. These are facilitated by Mrs. Mary Romary and Ms. Jennifer Mullins, Mrs. Gianne Mustra and Mr. Steve Sikorski.  We look forward to another great year creating, exploring and working together to encourage a passion for STEM!
