DHMS Weekly Update
Good Evening Highlanders, this is Mr. Vasallo Principal at DHMS some important messages,
This week our office is open Monday through Friday 8:30-3:30.
I would like to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mr. Trever Forbes, who is joining us from Thurgood Marshall Fundamental School, where he was also Assistant Principal.
This year our Assistant Principals and School Counselors will be serving all students by grade level:
In 6th grade, Mrs. Alford will be the Assistant Principal, working with Ms. Northcutt as the Counselor. In 7th grade, Mr. Forbes will be the Assistant Principal, working with Ms. Bosco as the Counselor. And in 8th grade, Mrs. Watson will be the Assistant Principal, working with Ms. McDonnell as the Counselor. Mrs. Alford will also be serving as our Center for Gifted Studies Magnet Coordinator. To the parents of our rising 7th graders: your students will have to provide proof of required immunizations to start on the first day of school. We strongly encourage you to get this completed as soon as possible.

To the parents of our rising 6th graders: Please save the date for our 6th grade open house on August 12th at 6pm.
At Dunedin Highland Middle School, our school lunches are $2.75. If you need assistance with school lunch fees, please make sure you fill out a free or reduced lunch application online at https://myschoolapps.com .
All students will be assigned a locker during the first 10 days of school. In order to use a school locker, students must have a school lock. Returning students can use the same lock they used last year. Incoming students can purchase a lock at 6th grade open house, or during breakfast the first week of school. School locks are $5. Please note that students are not allowed to carry bags on campus during the school day. All bags must be stored in their lockers during the school day.
This year we are implementing AVID binders school wide, so all students need to have a 3” binder to store their school materials. If you would like to get started on back to school shopping, please visit our website and view the supply lists for our CGS and STEAM students in all grade levels.
Speaking of AVID, we are looking for AVID Tutors for the upcoming school year. If you know a college student who would like a part-time job as a tutor, please contact Mr. Rice at email@example.com or Mrs. Watson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students at Dunedin Highland Middle School will follow the Pinellas County Schools Dress Code, which can be viewed on our website and at https://www.pcsb.org/Page/15060 . We also encourage our students to participate in our weekly Dress for Success Initiative, which is also posted on our website under School Information https://www.pcsb.org/Page/8990 .
