Each month North Shore Elementary focuses on the following character traits. Students have the opportunity to be selected “Citizen of the Month”.
Commitment to Character - Month by Month
Respect is treating yourself and others with courtesy and consideration.
Responsibility is doing your best and taking ownership for your words and actions.
Cooperation is getting along with others and working together to accomplish a goal.
Citizenship means you are law abiding and involved in service to school, community and country.
Kindness is being nice and considerate toward others.
Self-motivation is working in a careful and consistent manner without giving up.
Tolerance is respecting the individual differences, views, and beliefs of other people.
Honesty is using truthful speech and behavior.
Self-control is managing your emotions and choosing acceptable behavior.
Caring means being kind, friendly, considerate and willing to listen, give and share.
Courage means being brave in difficult situations, challenging yourself.
Patriotism is demonstrating allegiance to one's country.
