The Engineering Academy at Seminole High School lead teacher is Nancy Winant. The academy lays down a fundamental foundation for what lies ahead at the collegiate level of engineering.
*The Applied Engineering I, II, III, and Adv/App Engineering courses all are quality point courses.
In this course, the students will be working on hands on projects, designing and creating real life prototypes, participating in competitive events at the State and National level, working with engineers, as well as learning critical thinking and problem solving skills. They will learn to use software relevant to the engineering industry and be able to achieve Certification in Solid Works and Auto CAD.
Students go through the design process to design, create, build, test, analyze, modify, and rebuild products and projects. The Engineering Academy will focus on preparing our students for engineering careers and for the rigorous academic programs at the top engineering universities.
Within this academy, you can also be a member of a USFirst Robotics team where you will compete with FTC regulations. You will have the opportunity to work towards qualifying for State and World Championships. You may also become a member of Technology Student Association(TSA) competing at the State level in a variety of competitive technology related events. Many of our students participate in Next Generation Entrepreneurs and Tech submitting business plans for products they designed and constructed as well as development of programs and applications. Our students also participate in Virtual internships where they work with local engineering companies on real life problems. Finally, during summer break, our students are hired as interns at top engineering firms in the community.
