Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Sherra Jones and I have taught in the Pinellas County School System for many years! I love teaching as much today as I did at the very beginning of my career. Each year brings new children, new parents, and new professional learning. That is what keeps my job fresh and exciting. I look forward to the beginning of the school year, the beginning of the school week, and the beginning of each school day because I love what I do. In addition to teaching, I have a passion for writing. I have co-authored two professional books. One is titled “Growing Up Writing” and the other is titled “Oral Mentor Texts.” The first book is about teaching young children to write and the second book is about the importance of storytelling. I have had the opportunity to speak at three national conferences, as well as district wide trainings, regarding the subject matter I hold near and dear to my heart.
Though engaging with 18 first graders for six hours every day keeps me VERY busy, I do enjoy activities outside of the school environment. I am married and have two grown children named Jessica and Rachael. Also, I am lucky enough to have my parents living nearby. We spend family time together every chance we get. We love to barbeque, yard sale, shop, travel, and attend concerts. Anytime we are together is a good time! We have a family goal to take an Alaskan cruise in the near future! We like to dream big!
