Good evening Southern Oak scholars and families!  This is Mrs. Ohmer with some reminders for the final week of the ’19-’20 school year.

    • There is no school Monday, May 25th.  The final day for students is Friday, May 29th.

    • Please listen to the following schedule we have this week for you to drive through the bus circle to pick up student belongings that may have been left at school, including report cards and awards.  This is also the time to return any library books, textbooks, or safety patrol belts that belong to the school.  We will not be collecting digital devices at this time. As per CDC sanctions, all occupants must remain in their vehicle.  All items you are picking up will be placed in the back of your vehicle, adhering to a non-contact pick up guideline.  Have the back of the vehicle accessible (trunk/back door unlocked).  It would be helpful to place a sign (8.5 X 11) in your front windshield that boldly and clearly states student’s name and teacher’s name. Enter the campus via the BUS circle and follow the signs and/or staff directing you to your pick-up station. Grade level teachers plan to be in the bus circle on the assigned grade level day from 9-10am to wave goodbye for the summer.
      • The schedule is as follows: Tue, 5/26, Prek-1st grade families can pick up belongings in the bus circle from 9-3. Wed. 5/27, 2nd- 3rd grade families can pick up belongings in the bus circle from 9-3. Thursday 5/28, 4th-5th grade families can pick up belongings in the bus circle from 9-3. Friday, 5/29 anyone who could not make the following dates/times can drive through the bus circle from 9-12 only.  If you have a child in multiple grade levels, please know that you do not need to come on multiple days, just let us know when you pull in.

    • Remember that Virtual Summer Bridge will differ from the current virtual learning and we encourage our families to participate. Students will be provided learning support 2 hours per day, Monday-Thursday, beginning June 8th and ending July 16th.  Lessons are theme based and include weekly Virtual field trips with a focus on ELA and Math, as well as small group, personalized live instruction from one of our Southern Oak teachers. Please visit our Website and Facebook page for more information or register at reservation.pcsb.org

You can also call the school at 588-4654 and we can assist you in registering your child.

    • Don’t forget about the Wednesday meal distribution at our campus, which will continue throughout the summer. Our Southern Oak cafeteria staff has been feeding 500+ students each week.

    • Remember any Hoot Loot you have that you did not have a chance to spend can be spent for 1 week only in August.  5th graders can choose to keep it as a souvenir or pass it down to friends or siblings.

    • Miss Otto and the 5th grade team have put together a special digital yearbook and online video for our graduating 5th graders.  The team will be in the bus circle to celebrate you on Thursday from 9-10.

We look forward to seeing everyone this week, from a distance of course.  We miss you all and wish you  a fun filled and safe summer.

    PCS Families,

We are aware that some students are experiencing issues with Microsoft Teams today, especially with the Assignments tab (the tab is not visible or error messages are occurring).  The issue is intermittent and is not impacting all students. This is a global Microsoft issue and we are working with Microsoft to correct it as quickly as possible.

If you experience this issue, please try to log out and log back in. This may resolve the problem. Please know that the district recognizes what a challenging time this is for our students and families, and teachers will work with your student if they are having difficulty accessing assignments. Thank you for your patience as we continue to adjust to the digital learning platform.

  • Cell Phone Policy

There has been questions about our cell phone policy here at Southern Oak. We follow the district policy on cell phone use.

School Board Policy states students may possess a cell phone provided this item is powered off and concealed from view while school is in session.

Any student who fails to abide by the terms of this policy forfeits any right or privilege to possess any electronic device describe in policy.

     (p. 42 in  2018-2019 Code of Student Conduct)

  •  - Remember, the handicapped spaces both in front of the school and by R’club are for permitted vehicles only. There has been a problem with the spaces by R’club being used by non permitted cars. Our families who need those spaces appreciate your attention to this.
