ABE-GED & ESOL!!
Mission: The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment or advanced training in finish carpentry and the cabinetmaking industry.
Program C410400 consists of a planned sequence of courses.
Cabinetmaker Helper - Course BCV0200 (300 Hours) - Content includes orientation and basic safety, hand and power tools, building materials, fasteners/hardware and basic blueprints.Cabinet Finisher - Course BCV0235 (150 Hours) - Content includes finishing skills, including the installation of an interior door, stain systems, cabinets, shelving and wall and ceiling coverings.
Cabinet Assembler - Course BCV0240 (300 Hours) - Content includes fastening stock, assembling, cabinet installation, applying laminates, plan, design and layout and use of power tools.
Cabinetmaker - Course BCV0243 (450 Hours) - Content includes joinery, cut and assemble casework, construction of drawers, doors and curved pieces, and millwork.
Distance Education: Not available at this time.
Industry Certification: National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) Cabinetmaking
Services Available: Cabinetmaking students build basic kitchen cabinets and custom cabinets of many different types. This service is available to the public. Please call (727) 538-7167, extension 2131, to make an appointment.
Minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirement: 70%
Minimum Attendance Requirement: 70%
Basic Skills Entrance/Exit Requirements: Student's competency in computation (mathematics) and communication (reading/language arts) is pre-assessed; required basic skills grade levels are: Computation - 9 and Communication - 9.
