Band

  • The John Hopkins Middle School Band is an innovative music education program. Our program strives to be the standard of excellence for middle school instrumental music programs throughout Pinellas County and the state of Florida. The program works to take students at all levels of musical training and experience and raise them to the highest levels of musicianship.

    Ensembles

    The Wind Ensemble
    Wind Ensemble The John Hopkins Wind Ensemble is the premier concert band ensemble at John Hopkins Middle School. This elective ensemble is open to all students at our school, but each student must either be in the Band Focus or complete at least one year in the Symphonic Band. The Wind Ensemble develops advanced musicianship and performance skills while preparing performances to represent our school.

    The Wind Ensemble attends the FBA Concert Band Music Performance Assessment and earned an excellent rating the previous two years.
     
    16th Street Swing
    16th Street Swing 16th Street Swing is the jazz orchestra at John Hopkins Middle School. This elective ensemble is open to all students at our school, but is reserved for the most committed band students. 16th Street Swing focuses on advanced styles of music typical to the jazz idiom and develops advanced musicianship and reading ability.

    16th Street Swing attends the FBA Jazz Music Performance Assessment and earned an excellent rating last year.
