Positive Behavioral Intervention Support
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) gives people a new way to think about behavior. PBIS is the application of evidence-based strategies and systems to assist schools to increase academic performance, increase safety, decrease problem behavior, and establish a positive school culture. PBIS results in effective school-wide processes and procedures, as well as individualized intervention plans that will impede problem behaviors, teach new skills, and create support systems for the student. Garrison-Jones began PBIS during the 2010-2011 school year with the implementation of our Guidelines for Success, also known as our school-wide expectations. Those expectations are referred to as Pioneer PRIDE.

All teachers and staff use PRIDE Passes to reinforce students demonstrating Pioneer PRIDE. Throughout the year, students can exchange their PRIDE passes for various things, including prizes and parties. Ask your child to share what they know about Pioneer PRIDE and PRIDE Passes.
