Exceptional Student Education (ESE)

  • The mission of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) at Garrison Jones is to provide quality services that support effective learning opportunities for all exceptional children. Garrison Jones provides a full continuum of services, which include but are not limited to educational, vocational and behavioral support, to meet the needs of eligible students while allowing access to general education instruction with non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate for each student. There are presently two full time ESE certified teachers that support students within the mainstream classes. Garrison Jones also provides instruction for students needing Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy as well as Physical Therapy

Garrison Jones Elementary provides support and services for kindergarten through 5th grade students, with a focus on students diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and related disabilities. The school has three ASD self-contained classes serving students from K-5, which have been providing services since 2012. These classroom models allow for a smaller teacher pupil ratio, teacher assistant support, and teacher specialized training. All three of our ESE/ASD teachers hold their State of Florida Autism Endorsement and have a combined 20+ years of ESE experience.
