Garrison-Jones Elementary is proud to offer a 4th grade chorus class and a 5th grade chorus class during the school day. This musical opportunity is available during the day to include every child who wishes to participate regardless of morning or afternoon transportation and needs.
Choral singing continues to be the most popular form of participation in the performing arts. Studies are continuing to find that children who sing in choruses have academic success and show valuable life skills. They get significantly better grades in school, excel in other areas of learning and development, are more likely to be team players and show advanced social skills.
The 4th and 5th grade choruses at Garrison-Jones are un-auditioned and open to any student to participate. Permission slips for chorus go home in September and again in January. They meet once a week during the school day for 35 minutes. Students are responsible for any missed classwork from their classroom teachers.
The 4th grade chorus performs at the Winter Holiday Concert in December and at the Spring Concert in May. Girls are expected to wear holiday clothes or dresses and boys are expected to wear pants and dress shirts.
The 5th grade chorus performs at Pioneer Day in the fall, the Dunedin Christmas Parade, the Downtown Dunedin Old Fashioned Christmas Festival, the Winter Concert and the Spring Concert. Girls and boys wear all BLACK due to a BLACKLIGHT effect in the Winter and Spring Concerts. Girls and boys wear the chorus t-shirt with blue jeans for the other performances.
Please consider being a part of this exciting class and musical opportunity!
