  • 2D Art

    One semester covering Art Appreciation and History, the elements and principles of Art, and Basic Drawing and Design in 2 dimensions; this includes drawing, painting, scratchboard, and much more.

    3D Art

    One semester using the concepts and skills learned in 2D Art to make 3 dimensional works, such as ceramics, sculpture, and printmaking. 2D Art should be taken first.
     
    Pre-AP Visual Art

    A year-long class for advanced art students who have done well in at least 2 middle school art classes. High School Credit.

    • Prerequisites:
      • 2 Visual Art classes with a B average minimum
      • 8th Grade
      • Permission from Art Teacher

    Art at Dunedin Highland Middle School

     

    In the last three years, students at DHMS have had dozens of works accepted into countywide and statewide exhibitions, including:

    6 Awards of Merit in the Taking Shape Show

    2 Awards of Merit in the March is Youth Art Month Show

    1 Award of Merit and 1 Honorable Mention in the Mainsail Show

    2 Awards of Merit in the Word and Image Show

    2 Awards of Merit and 2 Honorable Mentions in the Student Surrealist Show at the Dali Museum

    3 Gold Key Awards at the Scholastic Art awards
