The Pinellas County School Board recently approved changes to the way the district will provide health education. The change will help connect health, wellness and physical education in an integrated manner.
The new course progression for middle school students will be:
- Sixth Grade: Physical Education Fitness
- Seventh Grade: Health AND Physical Education
- Eighth Grade: Wellness Education
Each of the above courses are semester courses.
The approved changes also remove an option for a student to waive the semester seventh grade health education course. Seventh grade students desiring to take health education online may enroll via Pinellas Virtual at www.pcsb.org/virtual.
If you have, any questions please contact your student’s middle school and/or visit the PCS Middle School website at www.pcsb.org/middle.
