Assistant police chief Luke Williams was born and raised in St. Petersburg, growing up at 1719 31st St. N. He has been assistant chief for 15 years and helps manage a department of 562 police officers that covers a city of 250,000 people. In January, he visited Lakewood High School to do a press conference with Spartan News Network staff.
