    What are the Computer Requirements?


    Pinellas Virtual School courses use a variety of software and features; depending on the courses the software and features vary. The lightweight devices, such as Google Chromebooks or tablets that have very limited technology support for Java or Flash, will not be compatible with most of our courses. Please review the requirements if you have a Windows or Mac based computer.


    PC Requirements 

    • Windows 7 or newer
    • Microsoft Office
    • DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz 2 slots supporting 2G, 4GB, 8GB13 DIMMs or better
    • 7200 rpm SATA up to 500GB Encrypted 7200 rpm 320GB3 Mobility Solid State up to 128GB Dell Fast Response Free Fall Sensor (standard on the motherboard) or better
    • Intel®  CoreTM i3, i5 and i7 up to i7-35xxM; Intel® Celeron® Bxxx processors or better
    • High Speed such as Cable or DSL (Using dial-up is possible but you may experience performance issues with certain course features)
    • Display setting 1024x768 resolution


    Macintosh Requirements 

    • MacOS (10.13) or newer
    • Minimum of 250 gigabytes free HDD space
    • 2.6GHz. 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 3MB shared L3 cache
    • 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
    • High Speed such as Cable or DSL (Using dial-up is possible but you may experience performance issues with certain course features)
    • Display setting 1024x768 resolution


    Internet Access and Speed 

    If you have Internet access, you can take courses with PVS. (You may take courses with dial-up connectivity, it will take a little longer for pages to load)

    How Do You Get Technical Help?

    Our different courses are offered on different learning management systems. Please see the information about the platform that your course is on below to learn how to access, use, and seek help on that system. If you are unsure on which platform your course is taught, you can find that information on our course lists (middle school catalog/high school catalog).


    Canvas Login URL:

    Username/Password: Pinellas Student r2.d2 username/District s. password. Pinellas students can find out their password from the teacher of their course.

    Help Getting Support: In the bottom left corner of the Canvas website to submit. Click the yellow HELP link (if you cannot login, you can click the works HELP at the bottom of the login screen). After clicking the help button, select Report a Problem to submit a technical question from the page where you are having the problem. Be sure to provide as many details about the problem as possible and include any error messages that you are receiving.
