Principles of Biomedical Science
Medical Interventions
Hello I am Tonya Kistner. I graduated from Coastal Carolina College in 1999 with a B.S. in Marine Biology and a minor in Biology and a 6-12 Teaching Certification from Bethel College. I have been at East Lake since 2007 and teaching in the Biomedical Academy since the inception in 2009. I have 2 boys that have graduated from East Lake High School and this academy which shows my passion and excitement for this program. I enjoy working with students and helping them find their true passion for learning and finding an area of interest that they enjoy. I also am a plant mom and would be more than willing to share stories or swap plant babies! -

Principles of Biomedical Science
Hi I’m Kelley Hays. At FSU I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Master’s degree in Science Teaching. I’ve been teaching Chemistry at East Lake since the Fall of 2011, and a Biomed teacher since 2018. I love seeing students learning new lab skills and experiencing techniques that I didn’t get to do until my 3rd year of college. My heart smiles when former students tell me how easy their college labs are because of what we did in class. Recently I’ve been getting into the garden as well (Mrs. Kistner is my plant mom) so I’m definitely up for plant trades too.
