Get Paid for Grades program rewards students for improving in school

During the 2016-2017 school year, 96 students improved their reading comprehension and 66 students improved their reading level at least one grade level through participation in the Get Paid for Grades program. Get Paid for Grades is a nonprofit aimed at motivating, supporting and improving the reading level of students. Fifty-four students completed the entire program, which earned them a $500 award. Students that completed the entire program improved their reading by at least one grade level; improved their grades; had less than eight absences (during enrollment in the program); and completed 12 online workshops.

The total 2016-2017 “Get Paid for Grades” contributions to each school are:
• Boca Ciega HS total award: $57,500
• Clearwater HS total award: $15,000
• Pinellas Park HS total award: $500

Totals include awards to tutors, students and schools. The school year’s first Get Paid for Grades ceremony was held at Boca Ciega High in May. The second was hosted by Clearwater High School on Tuesday, June 20. About 20 students received $500 at the ceremony.
