June 21, 2017

The Pinellas County Schools Strategic Communications office recently won three national awards, recognizing the department’s Referendum public education campaign, IT Factor video series and Science Rocks TV program.
NSPRA
The department earned a 2017 Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for the campaign to educate families and the community about the Referendum. The award recognizes exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement. In 2016, voters overwhelmingly supported the Referendum, which strengthens reading, music and art programs, provides up-to-date technology, and helps recruit and retain quality teachers.

The multimedia team earned a 2017 NSPRA Electronic Media Award for the IT Factor video series. The IT (Inspiring Teacher) Factor showcases dedicated, passionate and high-performing educators and their positive impact on students. The award recognizes outstanding video, TV and radio programs.
TELLY
The Pinellas County Schools TV Station, WPDS-TV14, earned a Silver Award of Excellence from the Telly Awards for an episode of Science Rocks. The episode featured the University of South Florida Engineering Expo and an exploration of the Grand Canyon and ocean conservation. The Telly Awards honor excellence in television, cable, digital and non-broadcast productions.
