Department of Education honors businesses committed to supporting public education
June 22, 2017
The 2017 Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards program honored more than 40 businesses and individuals at a ceremony June 14 in Orlando.
The event celebrates the impactful contributions of business partners and fosters communication between business leaders and school leaders about the challenges and accomplishments of our public education system. Pinellas businesses honored at the event include the Ajax Building Corporation and Raymond James Financial Inc.
Ajax Building Corporation has dedicated more than $1 million in time, labor and resources to transform a vacant school into the Starting Right Now facility, which serves homeless teens. Raymond James Financial Inc. partnered with Pinellas County Schools to develop and support the Lunch Pals mentorship program, which serves more than 700 students.
The Commissioners Business Recognition Awards program was presented by Wells Fargo in partnership with the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation. The program was integrated with the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Annual Education Summit.
