Aug. 10, 2017

The learning started a day early for some Northeast High School students.

About 80 students in the school’s Academy of Finance participated in the live selling of Pinellas County Schools bonds. Raymond James Financial hosted the students Wednesday, a day before the 2017-18 school year starts. The district’s financial advisors and bond council, along with Raymond James staff, provided a detailed explanation of bonds and the the Certificates of Participation process.  The students were also given a tour of Raymond James’ trading floor.

During the process, Pinellas County Schools was provided with nearly $62 million in bonds to finance the construction and renovations to Career Academes of Seminole, Melrose Elementary School and Pinellas Park Middle School.
