PCS recognizes outstanding Student Services Employee
Dec. 19, 2017
Pheleshia Shaw, a CNA at Richard L. Sanders School, has been named 2017-2018 Student Services Employee of the Year.
“Ms. Shaw goes above and beyond on a daily basis and is a quiet force behind the scenes making sure all of our students’ needs are met,” said Principal Dr. Heidi D’Ambrosio in the award application.
Ms. Shaw began her PCS career in 1999, serving as a classroom assistant, while working on a degree in special education. She has been a CNA with the district for six years, and has worked at Richard L. Sanders School for four years.
Her principal said that Ms. Shaw is known for putting her students’ interests first, and building relationships with them. She greets them upon arrival in the morning and says goodbye every afternoon.
She connects families with community resources and has built strong bonds with them. She also supports the school and her colleagues. She goes out of her way to attend events in the evening and volunteers to help with setup and breakdown of each event. She also coordinates and supports staff events, including the Breast Cancer walk and staff recognition events.
Ms. Shaw will be honored at the School Board meeting during Student Services Month in February.
