Seven students participate in National History Day competition
June 18, 2018
The competition was held June 10-14 at the University of Maryland. Groups came from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, and international schools in China, Korea, and South Asia.
Pinellas competitors were Tiffany Dove, Olivia Fuller, Ashley Mattson and Hailey Sherrell from Dunedin Highland Middle School, Sophia Hirst from St. Petersburg High School, and Sophia Chen and Kyle Nguyen from Palm Harbor University High School.
PCS chaperones were Dr. Teresa Bergstrom from Dunedin Middle and Daniel Tilney from Pinellas Park Middle.
The students represented the district well and had the opportunity to tour the Washington, D.C., area. They successfully competed against more than 1,000 students to get to the National History Day competition. Their journey began with school-level competitions and progressed beyond the Pinellas History Day and Florida History Day competitions.
Congratulations to the PCS National History Day competitors for demonstrating their academic excellence!
