Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary honored as National Blue Ribbon School

Nov. 8, 2018

2018 National Blue Ribbon School Award Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary was named a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Tarpon Springs Fundamental is one of 349 National Blue Ribbon Schools in the United States. Tarpon was also one of 12 schools in Florida that were selected. This is the second time the school has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, with the first award given in 2006.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools program began in 1982 and recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Tarpon Springs Fundamental was recognized as an exemplary high performing school. “Exemplary High Performing” schools have their state’s highest high school graduation rates and the highest achieving students (the top 15 percent) in English and mathematics, measured by state assessments.

Tarpon Springs Fundamental and other award-winning schools were recognized at a National Blue Ribbon School ceremony in Washington D.C. November 7 and 8.
