New scholarship program rewards students for taking steps to prepare for college
Feb. 21, 2019
The College Board’s new Opportunity Scholarships Program guides juniors on their path to college and provides monthly scholarship opportunities for work they are already doing to get ready for college.
The new program will award $5 million in scholarships to the class of 2020. The more tasks students complete, the more chances they have to earn a scholarship.
Students can start the process by making a list for potential colleges. The next deadline is midnight on Feb. 28. Drawings for this activity will take place each month through July 1, 2019. Other tasks include practicing for the SAT, improving their SAT score, strengthening their college list, completing the FAFSA, and applying to college. If students complete all six steps, they're eligible to earn a $40,000 scholarship.
Reach out to your student’s school counselor if you have questions. Learn more and sign up at cb.org/opportunity.
