New volunteer opportunity for ESE families
April 8, 2019
The Exceptional Student Education department is starting a new program to guide ESE families. The Parents Empowering Parents Program (PEPP) will give parents familiar with navigating special education services in the school district an opportunity to support other parents with children who have exceptionalities.
In addition to helping other parents navigate ESE services, volunteers will help other parents learn about resources and their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Training for PEPP volunteers will take place in late July. PEPP volunteers will begin helping families next school year.
Tracy McMannus in the ESE Department is currently accepting application for parents interested in becoming PEPP volunteers. She can be reached at 727-588-6062 or MCMANNUST@pcsb.org.
