Students win more than 570 awards at the Pinellas County Scholastic Art ceremony

Pinellas Art Region Scholastic Art winners

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program is the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious visual and literary arts program for creative students in grades 7–12.

Pinellas County Art Region Scholastic Art Awards were presented to 345 students at the annual ceremony at Gibbs High School on Feb. 5. Categories included Honorable Mentions, Silver Keys and Gold Keys. The event included an exhibit in the Lobby Gallery, followed by a ceremony in the Grand Theatre, recognizing each award-winning student on stage.

Works receiving Gold Keys have been forwarded on for national judging.This year, nearly $9,000 of local awards were presented to 13 students for their Gold Key works.   
Young Masters Art Portfolio Award
Sponsored by the Mainsail Art Festival, each student with an award-winning portfolio will receive $1000:

  • Luna Connolly, PCCA at Gibbs High School
  • Makayla Gibson, PCCA at Gibbs High School
  • Phoebe Studniarz-Roess, PCCA at Gibbs High School
  • Ashley Ross, Osceola Fundamental High School

PAVA Award of Excellence
Sponsored by the Professional Association of Visual Arts, each student below will receive $500:

  • Rowan Van Alsburg, Dixie Hollins High School
  • Amanda Nachman, Dunedin High School
  • Valeria Carrasco, Palm Harbor University High School
  • Heidi Hicks, Shorecrest Prep School

PAEA American Vision Nominee Award
Sponsored by the Pinellas Art Education Association, each student below will receive $250:
