Talent abounds at the Educational Media Awards Ceremony

May 27, 2020

Students were honored at the virtual Educational Media Awards (EMAs) ceremony. The EMAs recognize accomplishments in media production.

PCS winners have opportunities to advance to regional and state competitions. All first-place winners at the district level advance to the Region 4 competition, and first-place regional winners will advance to the state competition. All first-, second- and third-place state winners will be invited to attend the Jim Harbin Student Media Festival.

The FAME Jim Harbin Student Media Festival is held annually in honor of Jim Harbin, a former consultant with the Florida Department of Education who originated the idea of a competition to recognize the excellent work of student media producers statewide.

The Best in Show winners were:

  • K-2: Mildred Helms Elementary – “3 Little Pigs”
  • 3-5: Starkey Elementary – “The Buddy Bench”
  • 6-8: Clearwater Fundamental Middle – “Into the World of the Clearwater Record Shop”
  • 9-12: Palm Harbor University High – “Fun At The Fair!”
