District receives prestigious financial reporting award

Sept. 25, 2020

The district received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2019. The award is presented by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association with this prestigious award for our financial reporting, said Kevin Smith, the district’s Associate Superintendent of Finance and Business Services.  “I am very proud of our hard-working staff who prepared this important and comprehensive financial report.”

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the organization’s financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
