Application period for prekindergarten opens Jan. 19

Families interested in Pre-K for 3-year-olds or VPK, which serves 4-year-olds, will be able to apply for next school year Jan. 19 through Feb. 1.

Apply during the application period at reservation.pcsb.org.

To participate in VPK, families should apply for a VPK Certificate of Eligibility (voucher) from the Early Learning Coalition beginning Jan. 1. Learn more at the Early Learning Coalition website.

Pre-K 3 is for children who will be 3 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021. Pre- K 3 is aimed at enhancing language and communication skills, and support cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. Tuition is $75 per week plus a non-refundable registration fee of $75 that is applied to tuition. 

Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a free, state-funded program that prepares children for kindergarten. Pinellas County Schools offers a free VPK program for three hours a day. Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021. The program can be extended for the last three hours of the school day through a tuition fee of $65 a week and a $65 registration fee that is applied to the last week of tuition.
