Schools recognized for anti-violence efforts

Ten district schools are among 41 recipients nationwide of the Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Promise Club Stipend Awards.  The ten clubs will receive $500 each. SAVE is the student leadership initiative of Sandy Hook Promise and aims to empower student leaders to take an active role in increasing school safety and preventing different forms of violence in schools and communities. There are more than 3,000 SAVE clubs in schools nationwide.

The winning clubs are:

  • Madeira Beach Fundamental
  • Lakeview Fundamental Elementary
  • Safety Harbor Middle School
  • East Lake High School
  • M.K. Rawlings Elementary
  • James B. Sanderlin
  • Pinellas Park Middle School
  • McMullen-Booth Elementary School
  • Hollins High School
  • Joseph L. Carwise Middle School

Sandy Hook Promise has asked the ten schools to showcase and share their activities and experiences at the organization’s virtual National Youth Summit on April 17. In addition, three of the schools, Blanton Elementary, Safety Harbor Middle and Hollins High, will be featured in a video during a Sandy Hook Promise virtual Say Something Pep Rally at 2 p.m.., Thursday, Feb. 25.
