Research shows that students who are mentored increase their attendance, perform better academically, graduate from high school, attend college or trade school and are less likely to use drugs and/or alcohol. District mentoring programs include general mentors and tutors, Lunch Pals, Take Stock in Children, 5000 Role Models of Excellence, Girlfriends, St. Petersburg Promise, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Peer to Peer Mentoring. Those who decide to mentor can do so virtually using Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Take Stock in Children’s Chat APP.

A Virtual Mentor Workshop is the first step to become a Pinellas County Schools mentor. To attend, YOU MUST COMPLETE the registration form www.pcsb.org/volunteerregistration. Already completed one? No need to do it again. The workshop will provide guidance as well as the next steps including when the program starts and how a student will be assigned. On the day before and the day of the workshop you will be sent a link with instructions to participate.
