School Board continues selection process for the next superintendent

Interviews with the finalists and a Community Meet and Greet are planned for May 11. The events will take place in-person and will also be livestreamed.
The top candidates are Pinellas County Schools Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Kevin Hendrick, Denver Public Schools Deputy Superintendent Michael Ramirez, and Marion County Schools Area Superintendent Ann Hembrook.
Upcoming events will take place over the next couple of weeks.
May 11:
- From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the School Board will interview the candidates in Conference Hall. The public can attend or view livestreams of the interviews, which will begin:
- 11 a.m. for Kevin Hendrick
- 1:30 p.m. for Mr. Michael Ramirez
- 3 p.m. for Dr. Ann Hembrook
- From 6 to 7:30 p.m., the district will host a Community Meet and Greet with all candidates. A portion of the event will be livestreamed.
May 12:
- Each of the School Board members will meet individually with the candidates.
May 17:
- A special School Board meeting will take place, where board members will choose the next Superintendent.
Before he was appointed Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Mr. Hendrick was a longtime principal for Northeast High School. He has also served as Director of High School Education for Pinellas County Schools. Mr. Ramirez previously served in Broward County Public Schools as the Cadre Director for the Office of School Performance and Accountability. Dr. Hembrook previously served as School Associate Superintendent for the Clark County School District in Nevada.
The new superintendent will replace Superintendent Dr. Michael Grego, who joined the district in 2012 and plans to retire.
