Officer Barbara Baugher will be awarded the Florida Association of School Resource Officers (FASRO) Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate extraordinary accomplishments while serving their schools and communities. The award is presented to association members who exemplify the true spirit of “Service before Self.” The honor exemplifies service above and beyond what is expected of officers related to their skills, and their contributions to the community, their agency and school safety.
Officer Baugher is the longest serving officer in the Pinellas County Schools Police Department. She joined the department in 1989 and has been a K-9 Officer for more than 25 years. For more than two decades, she has taught firearms instruction and other high-liability topics for the department and the Southeastern Public Safety Institute at St. Petersburg College.
This morning, while Officer Baugher was working at Shore Acres Elementary, Pinellas County Schools Police Chief Luke Williams called her to surprise her with the good news. Some of her fellow officers stopped by to congratulate her, too.
Officer Baugher will receive the award this summer at the 43rd Annual School Safety Conference in Orlando, which will take place July 18-22.
