Edward Wallace, state finalist for Florida School-Related Employee of the Year

The Florida Department of Education has announced that Pinellas County Schools Support Employee of the Year Edward Wallace, who serves as the Head Plant Operator at Lakewood Elementary School, is a finalist for the 2022 Florida School-Related Employee of the Year.

The program recognizes outstanding education support personnel for the significant contributions they make to their schools and district school systems. Mr. Wallace has been a dedicated member of the Pinellas County School District since 1985. During that time, he has diligently served five campuses in roles ranging from night foreman to plant operator to his current position as Head Plant Operator at Lakewood Elementary, where he has served since 2009. 

As Head Plant Operator, Mr. Wallace has been on the front lines during the COVID-19 health crisis. He supervises a team of five plant operators and has been instrumental in keeping the school clean and sanitized. 

Mr. Wallace’s organizational skills and attention to detail have positively impacted the entire campus. He has also played an essential role in ensuring successful campus events. A creative problem-solver, he has a reputation for anticipating needs long before they arise. 

He has a reputation for arriving early and staying late to make sure classrooms and the school grounds are pristine. His respectful manner, caring nature and work ethic have made him a role model on campus.
