Jamerson Elementary reaches highest level of national magnet school certification
Aug. 17, 2022
The Douglas L. Jamerson Jr. Elementary Center for Mathematics and Engineering has earned Nationally Certified Demonstration Magnet status from Magnet Schools of America.
To become nationally certified, schools must submit a detailed application and participate in a rigorous evaluation by the National Institute for Magnet School Leadership. Programs that earn the Nationally Certified Demonstration status exceed certification criteria.
The national certification process recognizes the top magnet schools in the nation. The process helps programs grow and provide high-quality, innovative programs that promote choice, equity, diversity and academic excellence for all students.
Jamerson Elementary was the first Pinellas County school to be certified through Magnet Schools of America in 2016. Last year, the school took part in the evaluation and application process to recertify.
The certification runs through August 2026. Jamerson Elementary will be recognized at the Magnet Schools of America Conference in the spring.
