Pinellas Park High School students are semifinalists in the Young Innovators Challenge

The students designed an app that creates a cleaner environment and a sense of community. The app is called Community Waste Management.

The Young Innovators Challenge is presented in partnership with Florida Inventors Hall of Fame, the Florida High Tech Corridor, Scoutlier and Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics Center (AMRoC) Fab Lab.
The winning group from the Pinellas Park High STEM Team is Bella Nguyen, Alice Davis, Kaiden Salyers and Serena Ochoa. Congratulations to the students and Pinellas Park High STEM Coordinator Joe (Lafrance) Clarke.
Students who participate in the challenge have to solve a real-world problem. They pitched their solution in a three-minute video and drafted a 500-word proposal. They also included market research.
The Pinellas Park High student's innovation journey has just begun.The semifinalists embark on a six-week Youth Entrepreneurship program. They will be mentored by inventors and business executives and learn how to refine their business plan to develop their product and cultivate it for the marketplace.
They will present their plan at the Florida State Fair in February of 2023. Following their presentation, a decision will be made regarding which team will be awarded additional prizes that will range from $200 to $500.
