PCS art students and teachers honored at Carnegie Hall
June 29, 2023
Pinellas County students and their teachers were celebrated at the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards national ceremony. The awards are the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.
The event celebrated the 100th anniversary of the awards program. Student artwork was displayed in a national exhibition at Scholastic Inc. and Affirmative Arts in New York City.
At the ceremony, fashion designer Tracy Reese, poet Kinsale Drake, actor Derek Luke, and novelist Joyce Carol Oates spoke to students about the significance of their national recognition and the importance of continuing their creative expression. An inspiring video message from actress Jamie Lee Curtis was also shared.
