District honored as family-friendly workplace

Pinellas County Schools accepting family friendly workplace awardPinellas County Schools was recognized as a Platinum Level awardee at the Family Friendly Workplace awards ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Thrive by Five awards the Family Friendly Business Award to differentiate and showcase companies that demonstrate the commitment to creating workplaces that care about the needs of employees and the needs of their families. 

The Platinum designation is the highest honor. Jennifer Mekler, the district's director of early childhood education, and Mike Feeney, director of elementary education for Pinellas County Schools, accepted the award on behalf of the district.

"The success of our students and district is a direct result of the work of our amazing staff. Therefore, at Pinellas County Schools, a family-friendly workplace is not only important but essential," said Superintendent Kevin Hendrick in response to receiving the award. "We continuously invest to create positive staff experiences that support families through health and retirement benefits, paid time off and professional development opportunities."
