Congratulations to the Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School indoor soccer team, which won the Inaugural Indoor Soccer Championship on Nov. 15 at Safety Harbor Middle School.
Each of the five area champions competed in the tournament-style event beginning at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium. Morgan Fitzgerald was awarded a soccer ball signed by the Tampa Bay Rowdies players.
"Many of them expressed to me that they don't play travel soccer due to the high cost, so this allowed them to play at a competitive level for the first time," said Morgan Fitzgerald coach and sixth grade physical education teacher Michael Caris. "The level of confidence that I see in all of them after one tournament is amazing. They all can't wait for another chance to play."
The area champions were: Carwise Middle, Area 1; Oak Grove Middle, Area 2; Seminole Middle, Area 3; Morgan Fitzgerald Middle, Area 4; Azalea Middle, TZ.
