Rachael Uvieghara, Florida’s 2023 Girls 4A FHSAA Track & Field Champion in the 100m and 200m and the AAU Junior Olympic gold medalist in both races, signed her national letter of intent to attend the University of Southern California Monday, Nov. 27. The signing took place at her church, New Destiny Worship Center, in Clearwater.

The Palm Harbor University High School senior has been in high demand by colleges and universities. Nationally ranked number nine as a track and field recruit, she has received more than 50 offers from colleges and universities. Uvieghara also strongly considered The University of Georgia and the University of Alabama.

“The choice was based on many reasons, but ultimately, I decided on USC because of the relationship I built with the coaches, the academic flexibility to learn many interesting topics along the way with my major, and the ability to minor in various fields,” Uvieghara said at the signing.

Rachael is also a member of the Nike Elite program and plans a career in Molecular Biology and Public Health.

The high school senior admits she doesn’t like to lose.

“There are two “Rs” in life: reward and regret. Every day, you choose which R you are going to get. Every day, I work at getting a reward, so I’m not cheating myself and living a life of regret,’” she said.
